The Best Robot Vacuum For Carpet
No matter if you have a low or high-pile carpet there's a robotic vacuum for you. These smart appliances automatically navigate through your home, pick up dirt and clean under furniture.
They have advanced features like mapping, which help them navigate through your home and remember the location of furniture. They also can increase suction power to take on dirtier surfaces.
iRobot Roomba 694
The iRobot Roomba 694 is a robot vacuum for entry-level use that works well on carpets with low pile and bare floors. It has a good suction, but struggles with larger particles such as sand or grains of rice. It is effective in cleaning pet hair, but it isn't as resistant to knots as premium Roomba models like the I6 and j7.
The Roomba is easy to operate. It has three buttons on the top cover. "Clean," which launches a cleaning session and 'Dock', which places it in its charging station, and 'Spot,' which activates an individualized cleaning. It can be controlled via an app for smartphones that lets you program or stop/start cycles as well as adjust settings. It is also possible to pair the device to smart home devices such as Alexa or Google Assistant to control it via voice commands.
This vacuum cleaner is slower than other models, but it can get into the most crevices and corners. vacuum mop combo comes with a large dust bin that is ideal for reducing the frequency with which you must empty it. It is compatible with digital mapping and virtual barriers, which allows you to make the robot avoid certain areas or to stop cleaning completely to stop it from becoming stuck.
While it's not the best model in its price range however, it's superior to many other options. The Roborock E4 is more advanced than the Roomba 694 with superior cleaning efficiency on both bare and low-pile carpets. It also has a more durable battery and a cleaner route. It is also more robust, has fewer parts that require regular maintenance, is priced less over its life and charges faster than 694.
It's also worth looking at other, more premium models from the iRobot line, such as the 981 or the v7. They're more expensive, but they are significantly better than the 694 in terms of cleaning efficiency on both bare and low-pile floors, use the most efficient cleaning method and have a larger dirt compartment, are faster to charge, move more easily, and are much easier to connect with smart home devices.
Shark RV1001AE IQ
This budget self-emptying robotic vacuum cleaner does a great job on low-pile carpet and hard flooring. The combo brush can reach into corners and edges and it automatically boosts suction when it senses carpet. It also is effective in cleaning dirt embedded in mid-pile carpet. The IQ's small footprint for docks and the self-emptying feature are great features. If you want to change the floor's levels or define zones that aren't allowed, you'll have to manually reset the map.
The IQ app comes with advanced mapping and automated features, but it isn't equipped with no-go zones. They are only available on iRobot robots. The smart-pathing system of the app allows for superior maneuverability and the high-pile mode of its carpet cleaning mode is very effective, although it can get caught on rug tassels.
During our tests, the IQ was capable of handling pet hair with ease, removing huge amounts of hair from floors that were not bare and moderate amounts from medium-pile carpet. It was less efficient with shag carpets, as it had a hard time reaching dirt and dust that was embedded in the fibers. It was able to maneuver the legs of a chair, tiny spaces and even the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. We did notice that it was a bit slower on floors that were not paved however it soon recovered speed and performed better than the other robots we tested.
The IQ is a better choice than the iRobot Roomba 694 for most applications. It has a bigger dust bin and lasts longer on charge and is more capable of maneuvering itself over obstacles. It has mopping tools that are able to remove sticky debris. On the other hand the iRobot is more durable and has fewer parts that require maintenance or replacement, incurs lower recurring costs, and can create virtual no-go zones through its companion app. It is able to continue cleaning from the point it started, even if the battery is out before it finishes. The iRobot can also be controlled using voice, which is a huge plus for many users.
Eufy 11S
The RoboVac 11S robotic vacuum isn't among the most features-rich models, but it offers powerful cleaning power at affordable prices. The RoboVac 11S is designed for consumers with a tight budget who don't require a complicated mapping system, or an app to control it. The robot is capable of running for more than an hour and includes a remote, cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base, and additional filters.
The 11S is slim and sleek, with an upper deck of tempered glass that covers plastic finished to look like brushed aluminum. It's a nice departure from the industrial and utilitarian designs of Roomba, Samsung and Neato.
In our tests, the eufy11S was very effective in removing larger debris and fine dust on hard flooring. However, it was unable to give high and medium pile carpeting an effective deep clean. It also has a tendency to smack into furniture and people in its path however, it is able to detect those obstacles using sensors. It stops and emits a loud ring when it comes across an obstacle. You can then manually steer the device around it and return it to working.
The BoostIQ mode is a great feature of the Eufy11S. It lets you configure the robot to automatically adjust suction strength based upon the floor type and the amount of mess. The remote control makes it easy to guide the 11S to the desired location.

If you don't have much furniture in the room you're looking to vacuum, Single Room Mode is an excellent alternative. The eufy will take 30 minutes focusing on cleaning the area it's assigned.
Edge Cleaning is another option that limits the time spent on each area to a maximum of 20 minutes. This will increase the battery's life. With this option, the eufy will move in a spiral, tackling corners and edges for a thorough clean.
Miele Complete C1
The Miele Complete C1 is an excellent mid-range canister robot vacuum and a top performer on carpet. Its performance is also great on floors with no floor. It is able to remove rice and other fine debris effortlessly. The suction power doesn't decrease when the dirt bin is full. Its air-sealed, allergy-friendly design traps allergens to keep your family safe. It comes with an onboard HEPA filter and a self-emptying dustbin, which means you don't need additional filters or a separate vacuum bag.
It's not as effective as the more expensive models, but it's ideal for deep cleaning and tackling staining. It has two front cameras that provide a live feed to your smartphone. It also comes with one of the most advanced obstacle avoidance systems. It also has a big dustbin, a long runtime, and a fast, bump-free clean-up.
The Complete C1 is unlike most robots in that it is able to switch between two heads, a standard and a turbo to suit different kinds of flooring. The turbo head is great for carpeting with high-pile or low-pile and the standard powerhead works well on floors that are unfinished and light rug. It also features an automatic height adjustment system which lets it easily adapt to different kinds of flooring, without manual adjustments.
This model comes bundled with an SBD 285-3 Classic Combination Floorhead that can handle both hard floors and carpeting of medium-pile. The powerhead is also easy to move and can get into difficult spots. It has five different adjustments to the surface and a brushroll-off switch to prevent tangled hairs.
The Classic C1 has a self cleaning brush roll, the UtraClean Mode that can clean the same area up to three times, and a self-emptying dustbin that can be emptied with a single button press. Its noise level is slightly higher than some other models however, its powerful 1,200-watt motor as well as sturdy build make it worth the extra cost.
If you're willing a little more it's worth it. Miele Complete C3 is an excellent all-round canister robot vacuum that is more effective on carpet than the Classic C1. It performs better on all floors and feels more sturdy and comes with a HEPA filter.
